I do believe everyone, including the dog, is currently on some form of medication. I can hardly keep it all straight every day. It's exhausting. I caught Strep from Wesley on Thanksgiving and that wasn't too pleasant of an evening. I've never had a sore throat come on so quickly before. Since my doctor office was closed Thursday through Sunday I decided to visit the ER for a strep check. We hit our family deductible way back in July with the whole Wesley seizure incident, so I thought "Hey free trip to the ER!". Just what I wanted to be doing on black Friday. So this would mark our third ER visit this year (four if you count Rich and the ladder incident). Busy year!
The quick strep test came back negative but the ER doc thought my throat looked like strep especially since I'd been exposed. Apparently the quick test only tests for strep group B, doctor said I could have Group A which takes a three hour test. He treated me with antibiotics as a precaution. Looks like Sean now has it (imagine that).
Greta's pink eye is slowly clearing up. She gets drops every three hours. Wesley gets antibiotics twice a day. I get antibiotics three times a day. The dog gets Prednizone every other day. And Sean? I'm sure he'll be on antibiotics very soon. Will we ever be all healthy again?
On a positive note, the kids are happy and crazier than ever. The drugs are working. Today we had the most beautiful weather. 62 degrees, sunny and downright warm.....and the first day of December! We got outside and enjoyed it. The kids found boxes and turned them into space ships. They ran around outside in their boxes while whacking each other with the giant remains of the dried up sunflowers. Good times!

Ode to Kindergarten
Oh Kindergarten how I love you.
Wesley loves you too but lately we all feel like poo.
So much sickness brought home.
All day I talk to doctors on the phone.
Started with pink eye in Wesley on Sunday.
Let's just say it was not a fun day.
Eye drops started on Monday were met with instant relief.
But knowing it would travel to the 2 year old was only met with grief.
Getting eye drops into a screaming, kicking girl has been a test.
This whole ordeal has been quite the mess.
Sean and I hoped and prayed it would stay away from us.
But Sean woke up this morning to eye puss.
Poor guy has a double ear infection, pink eye and a bad bad cold.
It has hit him ten fold.
I, for some strange reason, am staying well.
But only time will tell.
I'm so exhausted from playing nurse,
I'm hopeful we will soon escape from the kindergarten curse.

Building immunity one kitty turd at a time
The kid is sick...again. This makes number two for this winter so far (and it's officially not even winter yet). He's not real sick just big wads of green snot running down his face and sometimes into his mouth. Yum. He's sleeping just fine which I'm grateful for. He's got his humidifier going all night and it seems to keep the snot nice and thin so it doesn't wake him up.
I try to figure out how he gets sick since it's just him and me all day here in the house. He rarely goes to the store with me anymore (I prefer to do my shopping without him on Saturdays) and it's not like he goes to a play group or daycare. Must be all the ickies floating around our house or maybe that hubby brings home from work? The kid is always doing something that makes me say the phrase "Oh he's just building immunity one _____ at a time". You can put anything into that blank. The other day he walks up to me with a dried up kitty turd in his hands. Kind of like "hey look what wonderful prize the kitty left me!". Nasty kitty. He does this with anything and everything. During late summer I would catch him sucking on my flip flop. Or every so often I'll walk into a room to see him lying on his stomach sucking on the wood floor. My favorite is he'll get a hold of the dog's food dish and will lick it out right after they ate. It doesn't even phase me anymore. You can't say he's not building up that little immune system every time he does something like this.
I shall leave you with video of Chance the dog chasing Wesley around trying to steal his beloved cracker. Wesley loves being chased by the dog....I think I might try hanging a chunk of meat around his waist, endless fun!

Random thoughts
I swear the snot is never going to stop oozing from this childs nose. Never. Ever. He's had this cold for 8 days now and I just assumed it would go away after a week but after talking to my friend Jessica it looks like the snot can last up to two weeks. **banging head on desk*** I just wish he could learn to blow his nose, man that would make this a lot easier. I'm apologizing in advance to Becca and Jeremy if he still has the snots by next week when we see you guys. From what I've read, a child with a cold can pass that cold as long as there are symptoms (snot) present. So sorry!
Happy Birthday Jeremy! The big 3-1! You old man you! :) Hope you are having a great birthday!
Oh and since this post is turning into random thoughts....there is only 37 days until Christmas. Crap.

The sicky
Well, my kid gave me whatever he had and now I'm sick as well. Joy. I've had the sore throat from hell for two days now and just now decided to start medicating myself. Tylenol works wonders on a sore throat by the way. I'm still congested and have a sinus headache but at least the throat is feeling better. I feel like I'm on the downhill side of it though, I've felt decent all day.
We felt good enough to dance today. One of our new rituals is to dance in the afternoon to Micheal Buble on YouTube. I love Micheal Buble, he's got as awesome voice and Wesley seems to like it too. He sits on my hip and we twirl around the room. Him with a giant grin on his face. It's cute.
Yesterday I set up a photo shoot at Sears to have some family pictures taken. I found Wesley the cutest little outfit and decided we needed some new pictures. Now I just hope he smiles for the camera. I'll put them up here on the blog when I get them (if they turn out good). Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Adventures in pee pee land
We have been battling this supposed diaper rash for two days now. It has come down to every diaper change being a big fat battle between Wesley and I. He screams and lays there on his back with his little chubby legs pushed apart. Poor kid is in some serious pain. So I called the pediatricians office and talked to the friendly nurse there. I described the rash (deep red, splotchy patches) and she thinks it is a yeast infection. Yeast infections can't be cured with diaper cream and powder. She recommended letting him soak in the tub 2-3 times a day with two tablespoons of baking soda dissolved in the water. Also he should have Lotramin AF smeared all over his privates 4 times a day and I should let him be a little nudist (go without diaper) as much as possible. SO after the nice little bath this morning I dried him off and laid him down on his quilt on the floor in his room naked. I then went downstairs in search of Sean's tube of Lotramin. When I returned upstairs I find Wesley, butt naked, drenched in urine giggling and rolling around like mad. The quilt is drenched. The kid had urine pooled in the corner of his eyes. This will be fun. The nurse said if it hasn't cleared up or at least started to clear up by Monday I'll have to take him in and get something stronger. So here's hoping. This weekend is going to be fun with our little nudist and the pee fest we're going to have. And I thought the dogs were bad.

Snotty little man

Well last night was a new experience. I went in to check on Wesley at 4 am and he was so congested. Poor kid was kicking around and was obviously angry that he couldn't breath. I then picked up my new handy automatic, battery operated aspirator (booger sucker outer) and tried sucking out his snot while he was sleeping....yeah that didn't work. It just pissed him off. So I took him into the bathroom and ran the shower on hot while sitting on the toilet lid and breast feeding him in the dark. The hot vapor opened up his little airways and off to sleep he went. Man I'm good.
