As I've written in the past I'm a big fan of hostas. I love collecting them! I have over 300 varieties at this point with hundreds of unnamed seedlings. When I discovered my favorite online hosta nursery was on the way to Portland (where we were flying out of) I had to stop. What an experience! Sebright Gardens has over 1000 varieties of hostas and I was like a kid in a candy store. I knew I wanted to buy some and attempt to fly them home in my checked luggage, the question was how many could I fly home? We stopped at a thift store and I bought a large hard sided suitcase with the intention of cramming as many hostas in it as I could. In the end I think I bought 12 hostas. Sebright was nice enough to bare root them (rinse off all the dirt) and I wrapped them in wet paper towels and plastic bags. The airport had no problem checking them onto the airplane and they all made it home in perfect condition. It was a fabulous stop!
